Social Media Guide
Social media can be an invaluable tool to build a community and promote awareness of events and opportunities – one of the most useful platforms is Facebook’s Group functionality.
Set up a Facebook group called “DAQRI @ {{SCHOOL_NAME}}”. A sample cover photo is provided in the resources folder to get you started. You can directly invite students from other relevant Facebook groups that you are a member of. Additionally, you should post a link to your new group in existing groups, and ask relevant campus organizations and administrative entities to share your posts.
Feel free to use your personal social media accounts to promote DAQRI plays too! Often times, making posts on your personal Facebook or Twitter account can be a really effective way of marketing an event.
Examples of content to post:
Information on upcoming DAQRI events on campus
Career opportunities from DAQRI careers page
Articles/publications about DAQRI news, products, partnerships, etc
This is not directly related to events or opportunities, but it can help keep engagement up in the group and build up DAQRI mindshare on campus
How to time your social media posts:
For events:
A few days before the event
8:00am - 9:00am, mornings are ideal times to post on Facebook, students will get a notification about your post when they wake up and check social media
Day of the event
1 hour before, and also at start time
For career opportunities and articles:
Once a week
8:00am - 9:00am, mornings are ideal times to post on Facebook, students will get a notification about your post when they wake up and check social media
Other social media tips:
Create Facebook events for DAQRI events that you are hosting. Facebook events make it easy to let friends and groups know about an event and also get an estimate about attendance.
Compile a list of relevant campus organizations and administrative entities on campus, along with contact information for each. This information can usually be found on your university’s website. Find these entities on Facebook, and request membership to their Facebook groups. Then, make relevant posts in those groups about DAQRI events!
Some examples of student groups: IEEE, ACM, SWE, UPE, AIGA, hacking clubs, computer security clubs, consulting clubs, entrepreneurship clubs
Collecting Emails and Setting Up a Mailing List
It can be really useful to collect email signups at your event of people who are interested in staying updated about DAQRI events on campus. You can either collect these emails in a Google Sheet, or bring a notepad with space for people to write their name, graduation year, majors/minors, and email address.
