How to: Crafting Copy for Marketing

What is copy?

Copy is any text used in a graphic or post. In this doc, we’ll be focusing on writing good copy for your marketing materials.

When should I write copy?

What should I include in the copy?

Generally, you want to start with something that will grab the reader’s attention. Ideally, you tailor this to each class (and target audience), but you can do something generic. Good attention grabbers are the main things they can take away from the event or something they’ll relate to.

Next, include more details of the event. Where will it be? What will be happening there? Try to keep it to under two sentences.

Follow this up with a call to action. Usually this will be a link to the Facebook event or an application page. Bring all the attention to the item by bolding and using all caps.

Finally, you should end with a conclusion. This nicely wraps around the call to action and make it stand out even more. The conclusion is very simple and something to end on a positive, welcoming note.
